Nothing makes us more Maltese than our connection to the sea. It’s bounty has been supplying the Maltese people with food for millennia and it continues to nourish us to this day. As a result, the island has developed a rich culture that is intrinsically intertwined with surrounding Mediterranean sea. The workshop will explore some of the lore and tales created by local peoples to bequest the sea for favours, calm it’s waters or send back a loved one.

We will dive into the fascinating history that connects Malta to the Mediterranean and how we continue to use it to this day. The class will culminate in a hands-on cooking session where you will learn how to fillet a locally caught fish and compose a dish using seasonal ingredients from our network of farmers. The day will end with the chance to sit and eat the fruits of your labour with a glass (or two) of local wine paired with your meal.

The Mediterranean Culinary Academy classroom at No 4, Sappers Street, Valletta

All of our workshops will be held at our purposely-designed professional kitchen class room on Sapper Street in Valletta, conveniently close to the nearby open-air public car park.

Our modular classroom has been created to morph effortlessly between technical and theory exercises, with plenty of space for you to work, cook and learn. Designed for up to 12 students and a lecturer at a time, our classroom is also home to the latest cooking equipment – although it still feels like a comfortable home kitchen.
